General Information/Tips

  • Every fall, the school provides you with a planner. It really does work in your benefit and I strongly recommend using it

  • The hallways in-between class periods are very crowded, so make sure to leave enough time to get to one class to another

  • In the morning, students can go anywhere in the building. Some of the most popular areas are Langley Hall, Cafeteria, Library, and Common areas

  • During the school day, you are not allowed to use any of the common areas for any activity (including lunch) without teacher permission during class

  • You are allowed to chew gum, wear flip flops, slides, crocs, etc., unless you have gym

  • To lighten up your backpack weight, use the same folder/binder for multiple classes on the same day that doesn’t have as much coursework required (electives)

  • The school Mascot is the Saxons; if someone asks you who the mascot is, the Saxons' name is Otto

  • At lunches, the lunch lines fill up very fast so if you're buying, as soon as you get to your table get in line

  • Microwaves are available for use in the cafeteria, and like the lunch lines, are regularly used by students

  • You are allowed to eat in the courtyard at lunch at all times, unless otherwise marked or bad weather

  • Everyone has their own system on how they work, so make sure you that you come up with the most effective way for you and how to get things done

  • Before the first day of school, I highly recommend looking at your schedule and a map of the school to get a general location of where your classes are and the best ways to get to them

  • Don't be afraid or nervous to ask your teacher for help. Their job is to help you and they are happy to do so

  • The school building is very large, with many hallways and wings for various subjects. After the 1st week back, you will feel better about getting around from class to class

  • When you hear people refer to door 14, that's the door that leads in and out of Langley hall. It is one of the most used doors by students and staff

    • Doors 9 & 10 are the ones out back by the bus loop

    • The number sequence of doors starts at door 1, and then moves clockwise around the building

  • The 5 minute bell only goes off at the beginning of the school day, not in-between each class transition

      • There is a bell at the beginning of A lunch, signaling the start of period 5/6

      • During B & C lunch there is no bell, since for many it is in the middle of the class period. Instead, you will be dismissed by a staff member in the cafeteria when it is time

      • There is a bell at the end of D lunch, since it also marks the same time when 5/6 period ends and the transition period to 7/8 class begins
